| Mission Statement | Camping Unlimited is a non-profit organization providing special needs children and adults a full program of recreation, education, fun and adventure. Our program encourages independence, nurtures responsibility, develops competence and builds lifelong friendships in a warm supportive atmosphere of planned permissiveness. |
| Volunteer Duties |
Volunteers assist with children or adults who have developmental disabilities, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, other challenges. On weekend overnights, volunteers help with socialization, arts and crafts, music, sports, talent shows, hiking, and much more. Volunteers stay in small cabin groups with the campers being a mentor/guide and assist with their needs. This is great experience for those in medical fields, psychology, social work, teaching and recreation therapy. On weekend day trips, volunteers can help us go to places such as state parks, museums, sporting events, amusements, and theatrical productions. Applications to the summer program are due May 1. The program takes place from June 8th until August 16th. Volunteers interested in the year around program can apply any time. The organization and the volunteers will plan together the volunteering schedule. Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old, and background checks will be conducted on all volunteers. |
